As you all know, Jason and I have two loveable, cuddly, often mischievous yet totally irresistible furbabies who we treat more like human babies then we probably should. If you're anything like us then you know exactly what I'm talking about.
But as much as we love our pampered pooches, sometimes the girls can be just plain bad. This behavior typically occurs by our tiny terror, aka Bella. She's a chihuahua yet she thinks she rules the roost. Girl does whatever she wants to. And this includes using the indoor facilities far too often. Or when she does go outside, it takes forever. And I'm not exaggerating.
If you're the lover of a small dog breed, I'm sure you can relate. They're harder to house train and even 5 years later she stills has too many accidents indoors. So when I was contacted by Doggie Lawn, a subscription service that delivers real grass to your door step, to review their services, I was anxious to give it a go, or for Bella to give it a go.
The Doggie Lawn appeared on our doorstep in a large, thin box, almost like a really large pizza box. When we opened it, lo and behold there was real grass inside!
We placed the Doggie Lawn on our back patio and sent Bella a'sniffing. There was little hesitation before she stepped inside and started sniffing out the lawn. A minute or so later, relief. Literally!
While we placed our Doggie Lawn on the back patio, it could be set up indoors as well. This would familiarize a puppy with the feel of grass and help aid in house training.
Bella has been using her Doggie Lawn for several days now. Because the box is compact, she doesn't take her good old time sniffing around before finally deciding on a spot to go. She just does a quick sniff and she goes.
Another thing we like about the Doggie Lawn is the fact that if the dogs use it, they won't be using our real grass. We don't have a big yard as it is, so keeping our grass healthy and free from dog waste would be a huge improvement on the curb appeal of our home. It also makes doggie waste clean up quick and easy.
So far we are very pleased with the entire concept and with how well Bella has been doing with her Doggie Lawn. Luckily, our Husky, Zoey, has no problems whatsoever with going outdoors but Doggie Lawn does offer a larger size box for bigger or multiple dogs.
If you're looking for a house training alternative or just a way to make your small, incredibly difficult to train even at 5 years old pooch, go faster and in the correct place, I recommend giving the Doggie Lawn a try!
